Chas Blackford

Sculpture & Photography

I have been creating abstract wall mounted and freestanding sculpture in El Verano since 2017. Much of my art is constructed from both recovered and purchased materials such as recycled barn wood, birch branches, apple and grape cuttings, bamboo, steel, aluminum, ABS pipe and found objects.

Reoccurring themes in my work are tensions between symmetry and disorder and the use of organic material versus those that are man-made.

Photography has been a major interest of mine since high school and I now manifest it creating large photo canvases. My subject matter comes mostly from my travels in Europe and Mexico.

A third generation Californian and Sonoma Resident, I have earned Associate Degrees in Art and Multimedia Design from the College of Marin as well as two years of study at the San Francisco Art Institute in both Photography and Sculpture.
